Meet Your 2024 Pastoral Team

Every year in the United Methodist Church, clergy are sent where God needs them to serve most. That means each year, some of our pastors can be appointed to our, or another, church.

That's why we are elated to announce the return of Paul Thibodeaux as our Lead Pastor. He will continue to lead us in transforming lives and communities alongside our Leadership Team.

Plus, God has sent us 3 new servant leaders to help us continue doing Christ's work in the world. Keep reading to meet them:

Rev. Dr. Vance P. Ross, Associate Pastor

Vance P. Ross currently serves as Senior Pastor of Central UMC in Atlanta, GA. A graduate of Gammon Seminary & United Theological Seminary, he brings decades of pastoral experience with him.

Jacque Smith, Associate Pastor

Jacque Smith is currently Senior Pastor at Mt. Zion UMC in Ellenwood, GA. She brings with her a wealth of community, corporate and church leadership & service. She received her Masters of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

Tyler Rouse, Youth Pastor

Tyler Rouse joins the Maximum Impact staff, bringing with him more than a decade of service to youth and families of the Midwest region. He is a contagious Christian, passionate about introducing young people to a relationship with Christ through discipleship & mentoring.

We thank and celebrate our departing pastors, Sheila Bates and Angie Johnson.
After their tenure of service to Impact, each of these leaders have been called to move forward in their pastoral journeys. They remain steadfast members of our team until Summer 2024.

Sheila Bates

Superintendent of the Southwest District
Pastor Sheila will be returning to her home district in Alabama to serve as the first Black woman Superintendent.

Angie Johnson

Lead Pastor, Columbia Drive UMC
Pastor Angie will serve as the first Black woman Lead Pastor of Columbia Drive UMC in Decatur, GA.
