Scripture:

Key Verse: Ruth 3:18 (NKJV)

“Then she said, ‘Sit still, my daughter, until you know how the matter will turn out; for the man will not rest until he has concluded the matter this day.’”

Summary:

In Week 4 of Hmmmmm...Humility!, Pastor Paul continued the story of Ruth by walking through Ruth Chapters 3 and 4, showing us what humility can produce when we trust God and remain obedient even when we do not understand the outcome.

Through Naomi’s guidance, Ruth continued to walk humbly, faithfully, and courageously into unfamiliar and uncomfortable situations. Though Ruth could not see how things would unfold, her obedience, trust, and willingness to follow God’s direction positioned her for unexpected favor, provision, and ultimately restoration.

We were reminded that humility is often choosing God’s way over our own understanding, remaining faithful through uncertainty, and trusting God’s timing rather than forcing our own plans. Ruth’s story challenged us to consider how many blessings we may miss when we become impatient, prideful, or unwilling to trust God through the process.

Ultimately, we saw that Ruth’s humility was about far more than her own blessing. Through her faithfulness and obedience, God positioned her as part of something much bigger than herself — the genealogy that would ultimately lead to Jesus. We were reminded that sometimes what God is doing through us today is connected to something greater than we can currently see.

Key Takeaways:

1. Humility often requires obedience before we fully understand the outcome.

2. God’s timing and plans are greater than our own understanding.

3. Faithfulness in uncertain seasons positions us for favor, provision, and restoration.

4. Sometimes we must “sit still” and trust God to finish what He has started.

5. God often works behind the scenes while we are simply being obedient.

6. Humility means entrusting our lives to God’s care, even when life feels unclear.

7. God’s best often comes when we surrender our own plans and trust His process.

8. Our obedience today may be connected to blessings and purpose far beyond ourselves.
