Title: Restored: Finding Redemption in Our Mess – Week 4
Scripture:
Romans 6:1–4 (NKJV)
“What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?... even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
Summary:
In Week 4 of Restored: Finding Redemption in Our Mess, we were challenged to move beyond simply acknowledging our brokenness and into intentional transformation. This week’s focus confronted the tension between grace and responsibility—reminding us that while God’s grace is freely given, it is not a license to remain the same.
We explored the reality that true restoration requires action. It is not enough to recognize patterns, justify behavior, or rely on grace as a safety net. God calls us to make decisive choices that align with the new life we have in Christ.
This teaching invited us to stop managing sin and start surrendering it. When we fully place our lives in God’s hands, what once disrupted us can be transformed—but only if we are willing to stop “playing with it” and take our next step toward obedience.
Key Takeaways:
1. Grace is not permission to continue in sin—it is power to change.
2. Awareness without action will keep us stuck in the same cycles.
3. We cannot manage what God is calling us to remove.
4. Transformation requires intentional decisions, not temporary conviction.
5. God’s grace meets us where we are, but it also calls us forward.
6. Walking in newness of life means choosing differently, even when it is difficult.
