Title: Jehovah Jireh My Provider – Week 5

Scripture:

John 6:1–14 NKJV

Key Verse:

John 6:11 NKJV

“And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted.”

Summary:

Continuing Jehovah Jireh: My Provider, Pastor Paul took us into John 6 and the feeding of the 5,000 to challenge us to pay attention to the Provider. The people followed Jesus because of what they had seen Him do, even though they did not know where He was leading them. In the same way, we are called to keep following Jesus even when the path feels like a wilderness and we cannot see where we are going. Instead of viewing God’s work as coincidence, luck, or something we accomplished on our own, we are challenged to recognize the presence of Jesus and see how God is already moving in our lives.

When the disciples focused on their limited money and five loaves and two fish, Jesus showed them what happens when limited resources are placed in unlimited hands. What seemed too small became enough to feed thousands, with fragments remaining. Rather than allowing our own calculations, circumstances, or limitations to determine what God can do, we are called to surrender what we have and trust the Provider. Even when we feel like all we have left are fragments, God can still use what remains. Pay attention to what you see, His presence, the questions, and how God is moving.

Key Takeaways:

1. Pay attention to what you see. Recognize the presence and work of Jesus instead of dismissing God’s provision as luck, coincidence, or happenstance.

2. Keep following Jesus even when you do not know where He is leading you. Knowing the Provider allows us to trust Him even in wilderness seasons.

3. Pay attention to the questions. Our circumstances can reveal whether we are relying on our human resources or trusting what God can do.

4. Be careful when you doubt what God can do with what you have. What looks small or insignificant can become much when placed in the hands of Jesus.

5. Stop focusing only on what is wrong and focus on Who is able. Our thoughts should begin with the divine rather than our limitations.

6. God can work with your fragments. Even when you feel like you have little or nothing left, surrender what remains and trust God to do something with it.
